Episode 9: Hollywood and Hallmark

Episode 9 of my podcast series "The Spirit of Missouri" called 'Hollywood and Hallmark.' 
This episode talks about moments that happened in the ‘Show Me State’ that were so great that Hollywood made a movie about them. We go into details too about a Hallmark movie that came out last year about a love affair between two Chiefs fans. 

Episode 8: The Negro Leagues

Here is episode #8 of my series "The Spirit of Missouri" 
This episode covers the Negro Leagues, which were established in Kansas City thanks to the greatness of its founder Rube Foster. Some of the greatest players who would eventually become MLB hall of famers broke in with the Negro National League, and of course, this episode talks a lot about the Kansas City Monarchs, whom a sportswriter said, “The New York Yankees were the Kansas City Monarchs of baseball!”
I am joined by Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame and Museum in this episode. 

Episode 7: 20th Century Memories

Episode 7 of my podcast series "The Spirit of Missouri" called '20th Century Memories'. 
This episode covers earlier memories of the 20th Century, covering the Cardinals playing in Sportsman’s Park, the St. Louis Hawks of the NBA, the football Cardinals and their games in Busch Memorial Stadium, and a bit about the Blues when they played in the Checkerdome.

Episode 6: Historic Firsts

The sixth episode of my series "The Spirit of Missouri" is out called "Historic Firsts". This episode covers many events and instances that have taken place either in St. Louis or Kansas City.
There have been several establishments and initiations that were started right in the ‘Show Me State’ that have had permanent impacts on sports worldwide to this day. Those subjects are brought to life in this episode. 
Some of them are relatively common to most sports fans, while others you may have never even heard of. Enjoy!

Episode 4: The Kansas City Chiefs

Today the fourth episode of my podcast series "The Spirit of Missouri" is out. This episode covers the Kansas City Chiefs.
Like the Blues, the Chiefs endured a long title drought that brought lots of agony to their fans, only to be rewarded in the end with more than they could have ever hoped for. Now, they are the talk of the NFL and have captured the hearts of new football fans from all around the world. 
The story of the Chiefs is one of the most unique in all of football, not just the AFC. If Lamar Hunt never brought them up to Kansas City from Dallas, who knows how Missouri's history of pro football would have unfolded. 
Faith rewarded may be the best way to describe the fortunes of Chiefs Kingdom. Enjoy! 

Episode 3: The St. Louis Blues

This is the third episode of my podcast series "The Spirit of Missouri". This episode is on the St. Louis Blues, who have captured the hearts of St. Louisans and thousands if not millions of fans around the Midwest over the years.
Their story has been very unique. The first years were great ones, trips to the Stanley Cup, but they ended up enduring a long drought that was ultimately ended with another story that Hollywood may very well make a movie of.
I am joined by a couple of guests, lifelong Blues fan and season ticket holder Mark Mager, and the Blues PA announcer Tom Calhoun!

Episode 2: The St. Louis Cardinals

Good morning! Today the second episode of my podcast series “The Spirit of Missouri” is being released on Podbean and Apple Podcasts.
This episode is on the St. Louis Cardinals, what the team has meant to the city, the importance of Branch Rickey and the farm system, and some of the greatest memories and players that have really put them on the map atop those teams in the National League.
Fun little fact, the St. Louis Cardinals went 70 years without finishing in last place! (1919-1989)

The Spirit of Missouri Pilot Episode

This episode is a brief overview of my 10-episode series "The Spirit of Missouri" covering the history of professional sports in Missouri. Great moments and accomplishments by teams and players, the Negro Leagues being established in Kansas City, and many historic firsts that were established in the 'Show Me State' that have had a permanent impact on sports as we know today are covered in this series. 
Seven of my next nine episodes are going to include at least one guest, with some representatives of the respective teams being discussed making appearances. 
This podcast is dedicated to not just sports fans, but history fans and those that embrace the greatness, change, and entertainment that they have brought over the years while bringing people together.
